Summary of Position: The HR Assistant will handle a variety of personnel related administrative duties. This role will act as the liaison between the Human Resources Coordinator and employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of all queries. This role will also support our daily HR activities and assist in coordinating HR policies, processes, and relevant documents.
 

Organizational Relationships: The HR Assistant reports to the HR Coordinator and has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Process, verify, and maintain personnel related documentation, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, compensation and benefits, and employee departures
  •  Recruitment- field phone inquiries, post job ads and social media content, complete background checks, pay fees and register for recruitment fairs and other general coordination of recruitment activities
  • Onboarding- prepare documents for onboarding meeting, schedule trainings, present benefits, process new employee paperwork, and other general data entry
  • Training- complete training reports, contact employees regarding training renewals, maintain employee training files
  • Payroll-collect, verify, and enter timesheets in coordination with the HR Coordinator
  • Employee Relations-organize and maintain personnel documents, submit benefit enrollment forms, coordinate employee reviews, general data entry and tracking under the supervision of Team/HR Coordinator
  • Volunteer Relations- field volunteer inquiries, ensure volunteer requirements are completed and tracked, co-plan yearly appreciation event with Team/HR Coordinator

Qualities & Qualifications:

  • Can embrace the mission and values of L’Arche St Louis
  • Prefer an Associate’s Degree or higher in a degree program (human resources or business administration) Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to employment lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing an office productivity suite (Microsoft, Google, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work collaboratively to complete tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to pass a background screening

Evaluation: To be evaluated annually by a process facilitated by the HR Coordinator. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time, non-exempt position. This role is expected to require 15-20 hours per week. Regular day and hours will be agreed upon. Hours may be modified as needed to complete the demands of the job.
 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role is largely sedentary; however, some filing is required. This job would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
